'Our approach to the Numinous is the real therapy' - CG Jung

“You are quite right the main interest of my work is not concerned with the treatment of neuroses but rather with the approach to the numinous. But the fact is that the approach to the numinous is the real therapy and inasmuch as you attain to the numinous experiences you are released from the curse of pathology. Even the very disease takes on a numinous character.”

— C. G. Jung Letters, I p. 377

A New Dream Group from Julie Douglas

In our modern-day life, it is important to establish rituals that connect us with the sacred. Dream incubation is a sacred act that involves setting a heart-felt intention before going to sleep. It is a request to the unconscious, seeking a soulful response to living a meaningful life.

Asclepius is the ancient Greek god of medicine, the son of Apollo and a mortal woman. The cult of Asclepius had many healing sanctuaries where people would undergo purification rituals and sleep overnight in the abaton. The purpose was to have a dream - a visitation from the god - to impart a remedy for the ailments of the body, mind and spirit. It seems that our approach to the numinous involves a sacrifice, an act of purification, to meet the god - the numinous essence at the heart of an image.

Embodying the wishes of our soul, calls us to live an authentic life - a life that unfolds in its potential and has the power to change our reality.

I look forward to you joining me in this six-week dream journey where we will incubate dreams and experience the numinous essence at the heart of your dream images.

If you are curious about dream incubation, and you desire to access the healing potential of dreams through an embodied approach, this dream series is for you.

“Emotional embodiment is itself a different experience in looking at my dream world. It is powerful. These sessions highlight that dreams have more complexity and more to give than I understood. This seems to be not trying to seek a specific solution, but rather creating a positive disturbance to the habitual self which in turn stimulates adjustment.”

— Bernard Carmody, 2021
